He still has that soft spot...

and they're squishy too! ^_^

P.S. Please don' mind my bedroom hair. It's naturally messy!

Ho-hum.

I think I just ruined his birthday by cooking for him tasteless sopas (my second attempt to cook this vacation) and by mutually agreeing to watch Wapakman. Homaygawd, even with those kickass effects and cinematography, 'twas still super CRAPPY. >_<

Sorry. Try and try na lang. Kaldereta, you are next!
PacMan, Fail.

Though, I might have redeemed myself because he liked my gifts. <3 Yaaaay.

Okay yun lang, bow.

Dear Santa,

I hope it's not too early for me to send you my Christmas wish. In fact, I haven't written for such a long time now so I guess you could extend me a little consideration. I know I'll be competing with all those little girls and boys who deserve so much from you, but I'd like to believe I've been a good girl myself. So if you will just transform yourself into something less fictitious and drop by my place at your convenience, I would appreciate so much if you could grant me this:

Also... I'm not sure how bad the financial crisis hit the North Pole but I know more than anyone you'd say that Climate Change's been a real bitch ever since, so if you could also be extra generous than usual to the kids out here in the Philippines, it would be really cool of you.

Oh and, people in our government also had some trouble looking for rubber boats. I know you can get inflatable ones in toy stores so, if you can also put that in for you helpful elves to make in the factory and send it here. Just don't bring it to people in the government, I'm pretty sure they're somewhere in your naughty list already.

Thanks a bunch!

Love,

Tanya

It continues to haunt me.

Today I got an email from my teacher crush in Korea! It goes...

Dear Tanya,

  How have you been?

I'm very pleased to receive your e-mail. Congratulations on your excellent academic achievements at the University of the Philppines.

I'd like to appreciate your welcoming me and my wife in Manilar last year. I cannot forget your heart-felt help and hospitability shown to me and my wife in Manila. Please give my best regards to your father, mother, sister, grandfather and grandmother. I enjoyed very much staying in the Philippines. I came back to Korea in February from the sabbatical leave in America. Nowadays, I've been busy a little in resuming the teaching and research works of the Spring semester.

Tanya, what are you doing? What is your future career plan? Let me know your plan. If you want to visit Korea, I'd like to invite you. You can stay in Seoul with my two daugthers. I believe that you will be a true future leader in the Philippines and East Asia.

I miss you! I pray to God for you!

  Sincerely yours,

 Prof. Ahn

 Daejeon University

 South Korea

Sigh. Not you too, professor! Haha. Anyway, I better know how to answer this email within the week or I'm probably doomed for good. These questions will be fired my way soon enough and I should at least have a template reply. >_<

The movie might not look much with this poster, but I still think you guys should watch it. Liam kicks serious ass in this one. But I swear, it's gonna be life-changing! I've become so paranoid no thanks to this movie. It's about this ex-CIA agent who had his daughter kidnapped by human traffickers in Europe.

Well, Marlowe and I watched this over at my house and when he was on his way home I texted him to text me when he gets home. One hour already passed and still no reply. He should've been home by then and dapat naka-charge na siya if ever his phone was running low on batt. So yeah, I got sooooo paranoid thinking he got kidnapped like the girl or something.

I think I slept at 3 AM that night because he couldn't be reached and when it started ringing, there was no answer. I was scared, my eyes were swelling up and my heart was just beating so fast.

But yeah, all of it was just paranoia. I got a call from him the next morning telling me na nakatulog lang siya. Hahaha!

Sorry, baby! :-*

The Reachable Stars.

Thinking about the future is stressing me a bit. I'm a few months away from graduation and although I've had my parents' blessing to take a break, I can't help but feel pressured about looking for a job or planning a "career". To think that I've always prided myself to be a self-proclaimed future "career woman" back in the day in those elementary feminist debates.

So far, I've already turned down a few corporate opportunities (I hope I don't regret those!) because I just really can't see myself working in such an environment. Pay's probably good, but aherm. Then, there are those side jobs that I opted to entertain. Not enough to keep me from panicking though. So I guess, just to soothe my nerves, I went online job hunting and created an account in every online job database I can find. There are less than 10 items listed on NGO jobs and abundant for Human Resources and Administrative positions. After all that clicking and surfing, I ended up passing an application for Star Cruises as an HR Assistant/Crew excited about the perks of travelling. Haha. Ang labo ko talaga.

Then just yesternight, I was again doing research on Masters scholarships abroad. I guess a part of me has always found comfort in scholarly (naks) work. So much opportunity out there but nothing fits me as of yet. All of them require some "work experience". BLAH. But that's the advice going around, anyway. So I guess, I better just wait.

At the end of the day, I still don't have my mind made up. All that pep talk about "passion" isn't helping me much too. I really haven't developed much a "passion" for anything, but instead it's like more of a "strong feeling of want".. and that is all.

And so, I have decided to stop stressing much about the future and think about those short-term goals for my future.

Yay, go (near) future! ^_^

1. Have a DVD marathon with my love.
2. Clean my room... and probably the whole house.
3. Have a coloring session with Bok.
4. Take my thesis kids out to La Mesa Eco Park.
5. Sit down and read a good book.
6. Have a roadtrip with my girls (how does Banawe sound?)
7. Go clubbing with my blockmates.
8. Get a new look. (Finally)
9. Attend the World Youth Creative Forum.
10. Take review classes for the FSO exam that maybe I will take.

Oh yeah, the future looks bright.

Thesis Savior. THANK YOU ATE JR!

This is a shout out to Ate JR Davas who saved me from another thesis mishap.

After my digital recorder's death, making it impossible to retrieve two FGDs full of important data and relying on lousy transcriptionists, this had to happen.

I was compiling about 200 pages of thesis data when suddenly Microsoft Office fucked up by corrupting it. I still had the file but it still won't open! I tried the computers around the house and it still won't! It was already 2 days past the due date. It was also 5am at that time and I haven't had a wink.

Thesis MADNESS.

And who was up at 5am? ATE JR! ^_^ So I sent her the file through an email hoping that some other computer would open it. 2007 document pa talaga siya so feel ko talaga di mabubuksan. But then she texted that she was able to! YAY.

Then, again at 12nn I made her save the file into a healthy document to view. I asked Runas to do the same thing but the file was corrupted when he was trying to open it.. So magical talaga yung PC ni ATE JR.

Grabeeee. I can't have 200 pages go down the drain. Lord, mahal mo pa pala ako.

MUST. BACK. UP. EVERY. FRIGGIN. MINUTE.
Naghihingalo pa yung laptop ko ngayon sa dami ng virus. WAAAH.

Hopefully no more screw ups.
Nothing ever good happens to me on February.
Please don't take March away too...

Basta, GRAGRADUATE AKO.

Again,

THANK YOU ATE JR!!! ^_^

Breathe in, breathe out.

I swear...

How come some people are just so FULL of themselves?

SELF-righteous

ANTAgonistic

EGOistic

PHONIES.

Hyeah, I'm having a Catcher-in-the-Rye moment. Hahaha.

Oh, but I still believe in World Peace. :)

***

Malapit na birthday ko.

My parents were extra sweet to ask me what I wanted to do this year. Hindi ko na lang alam sasabihin ko because I may already be booked for my birthday weekend..

I'll probably have CWTS or a PLSS Meeting FEB 7

ROCKEd immersion for FEB 8

And a Social Science Tutorial and a whole day ScavHunt for FEB 9.

But I really really really want them to take me away...

They were thinking daw of having a picnic in Tagaytay. That sounds like a lovely weekend. Lately, I feel my parents are extra concerned with me. Hmmmm.

Aylabshu both.

Jan. 28th, 2009

So okay.

My parents were asking me what my plans were after graduation.

I couldn't say a word.

You see, I had my whole life planned until I turn 28 years old typed in a word document ever since I was in 2nd year high school. Then, my computer crashed. So, there goes my future. Haha.

Basically, my plan of being a Philippine Ambassador or the UN Secretary-General when I was in high school sounds very promising. You could still actually root for me then. Now.. It sounds like a dull fairytale.

I don't know what's next.

So I told my parents: "Paano kung magpahinga ako ng isang taon?"

Mom: "Sige ba. Papakainin ka lang naman. Tama yan, magpataba ka."

Orayt!

I have an extra year to figure out what I wanna do with my life.

Amen.
