Dormestication

Wanted: TUBERO

Nasaan sila kapag kelangan mo sila? I'd even settle for a dancing one as long as he can fix our bathroom drainage. It's been flooding in there for days now. During the first week it wasn't like this at all. Ngayon, as in may parang mini-Malabon sa banyo namin. Our bathroom slippers and the trashbin would float around after our baths and there's this scary sucking sound the drain makes when the water subsides. Waaah.

Pedro, Jun, Tomas, Benny! Tell your Korean counterparts to help us now!

That's just one of the many rants and raves I have as an official "dormer". In fact, I've always wanted to try this lifestyle. It seems so flexible even if you have many add-on responsibilities. My "dormer" orgmates seem to have such a fun time too. And now I can truly say, I feel for you guys.

My dorm is actually pretty nice. I live on the 7th floor of the Boy's Dormitory where most international students would stay. It's funny though that the girls living in the Girls' dorm know more guys than we do. Hahaha.  Staying here also makes elevator rides quite interesting because I usually end up being the only girl on the lift. What's distrubing though, and extremely disgusting is that Korean boys spit inside the elevator. C'moooon guys. C'mooooon! Yuckadiriiii.

For us, this is the land of the FREE. Literally. We have a cafeteria which serves us free buffet meals (3x a day), free HI-SPEED internet access (368Kbps as of my last speedtest), free gym, free computer use everywhere (I'm curfrently at the laundromat station) and free printing and photocopy services. Ang saya-saya-saya. We're just really lucky. All these free stuff is actually paid for by regular students. I don't even want to know how much.

Tanya's Signs of Dormestication

1. Cereals, instant noodles and tuna compose some of my daily meals (especially when cafeteria food is really, really nasty).

2. I do my own laundry, or at least pay a machine to operate and do it for me.
3. I throw my own trash.
4. I clean the bathroom with dishwashing liquid.
5. I stock up on plastic bags, plastic bottles, plastic cups and plastic containers of all sizes.
6. i just bought my own electric kettle.
7. I delight in grocery shopping at a discount supermarket not minding that it took me 15 minutes to walk there.
8. I worry about drainage, dust, and dirt.
9. I don't have to fix my bed anymore.
10. I finally have keys to my room (even if I usually forget it).

PS. I was gonna add in the " I have an 11.30 pm dorm curfew." but I've always had that anyway, no difference. Ayaw talaga ko pagbigyan. Loser. HAHA.

Okay, my laundry's done!
