I like it how students just flock to the library all cued up to get a seat like it was for getting in a hot club on a Saturday. I enjoy being with 200 and more students in one room all with their books and notes, either for learning or display, like we were a nerd-cult. I never knew that the library could actually be a good site for people-watching. The good-looking guys were all here after all! Haha.
Suddenly, it made me miss the libraries in UP.
When I was a freshman I tagged it as my:
It was where I would usually go during breaks to kill time, and when I was just basically lonely, which I didn't mind being, really.
Then, my course is very research extensive so I found myself enjoying "library hopping". I was a frequent visitor to the Main Lib (Social Science, Filipiniana and Thesis Section), Mass Comm, Educ and Eng'g libraries. Hmmm, now I'm thinking, I'll make it my goal to visit all college libraries. Haha... like it was when we accompanied Celeni in visiting every building's top floor then. xD
Actually, I don't think I'm a wide reader to have an affinity with this place. Although, I do love books for sure. Sometimes even unconditional because I can tolerate even the thickest and boring ones. But, it's just that I get enough pleasure from the related literature I encounter from my research and the piles of readings I get from Socio so I don't bother much on others. (So I guess, I'm missing a lot!) But hyeah, busy-busy me.
But recently, in one of my visits to the library, I was somehow inspired to spend as much time as I can there since I'm so free and all. I'd grab all the books I can have my hands on and read like crazy until I go blind. (Okay, exag). But hyeah, that'll be good. As Clair said, they're basically obsolete now because you can just find everything on the internet. Hello, Wikipidea.
Yet, there's still something about those bookshelves, that old book aroma and new book smell, those tattered pages from borrowing, weathering or bad book binding, There's also that jackpot feeling I get when I find a book on my list, when I pity over an ignored book, or when I literally try not to judge a book by its cover. Then there's the people studying, people studying and then sleeping off their chairs, and those who really just went there to sleep. Then you also have that silence most valued but always broken because it only amplifies a concert of sounds. The sound of flipping pages, pens and highlighters sliding on paper, malfunctioning fans, vibrating cellphones, whispers and finger taps.
But before I left, the library became more than a place for me, but it became a place for us. The stairs, the leaky walkway where the sun would hurt your eyes when you pass, the wholesome-landian-ledge, the cement brick that I stepped on so I can sit on the ledge, the Nescafe vendomachine that gave us the best damn Milo, and every section of it, until the Library Science Institute library, that we were able to visit.
I remember one time when I was on my way to the library and passing through the hall I thought to myself how nice it would be to walk with someone to the library. Not just anyone, but someone... He made it happen for me.

Now, I know where I want our first date to be when I get back.
Hahaha. Baduuuy.
Hahaha. Baduuuy.

I was actually in the library to study for my Midterms. I have three 3-hour long classes on a Tuesday so that's.. 9 hours of class in one day. SABAW, mehn. Pero shet, bilib ako sa sarili ko. Kinakaya ko. I think it prolonged my attention span a lot so I guess I can definitely go on a Marcia Lecture anytime of the day. Kahit sunod sunod pa!
So tomorrow's my exam for all those, then I'm freeeeee.... for the meantime. Basta! Weeeeeee! Nagcecelebrate na ko! Weeeeee!
